
Since in my native country Ireland there is a smoking ban indoors recently, I figured people could do with some advice on how to eliminate the old poisonous weed!!!
Decide to Stop for good.
Drink lots of water while you stop and eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Start exercising the day you stop smoking. (it’s a signal to your body that you are changing your health positively)
Associate massive negative feelings and pain to the idea of smoking and massive pleasure to the thought of being a free non smoker.
Practise a relaxation exercise or meditation where you can comfortably relax and day dream… while doing so give yourself suggestions about being a non smoker now.
Make an image of yourself as a healthy vibrant non smoker. Imagine it vividly in all the senses and enjoy it. Anchor the good feeling any way you like.
Write down what smoking does for you and what ways you can get the same benefits WITHOUT smoking. (eg… relaxation by breathing deep breaths)
Practise deep breathing. (which gives you a similar kick as the kick from cigarettes except it’s really healthy)
Change around your environment to make your brain experience the feeling that something is different (eg. Move the phone around where you used to smoke, spray airfreshner and make the house smell wonderful)
