Presentation Skills

Use the Brilliant squared technique outlined below to get yourself in the right state to do it in.

Become aware of the images you make about speaking in public and change them. Make the negative images move further away and make them smaller and in black and white and replace them with a big bright colourful image of them smiling happily enjoying themselves.

Remember that even when they look serious or are frowning, inside they are often smiling. In groups, people rarely look how they feel. They get trapped in a group mask where they do not want to stand out and thus they keep still as far as possible.

Change the way you arer talking to yourself about it. Make your inner voice squeaky like mickey mouse when you criticise yourself or worry about the presentation. Say to yourself in a confident tone of voice that you will do fine and well on stage.

Most people usually don't expect to be entertained when someone speaks to them. They learned from an early age that most times when a person comes to speak to them, thy are forced to listen. Hence, you've got absolutely nothing to lose.

Notice which direction your fear spins in your body when you feel it and start spinning it in the opposite direction. This has a huge impact on your feelings and can eliminate the fear almost instantaneously.

Remember to breath deeply and pause at the start before beginning. Often scan the room and fix your eyes for a few seconds on some individuals. You are only ever talking to one person at a time.
