Here are some suggestions to make fresh starts.
(1) EVALUATE THE CURRENT SITUATION
The first thing to do is to focus on evaluating the current situation. What needs to change? What has already changed? How are things different? What do you have control over? By answering these questions you will understand what kind of fresh start you need to have.
(2) LET GO OF THE PAST
By letting go of the past I don't mean just forgetting about it. What's important is to focus on letting the nostalgia fade into the background. The past is worth learning from and teaching you where you need to go next. You just need to make sure that you don't carry baggage from yesterday into the future or it will never truely be a fresh start.
(3) FOCUS ON WELL FORMED OUTCOMES.
What do you want to have happen now? What do you want to do? Set out your goals for the future and make sure that they are positive, specific, based in the five senses (what will you be able to see, hear and feel?), ecological (good for you and others and worth it in the long run) and in your control.
(4) CLEAN EVERYTHING
The best way to signify to yourself that you are making a fresh start is to clean everything in your life from your Car to your House to your Desk. When you clean things you send a signal to your brain that you are creating more clarity which is the kind of feeling that allows you to make a new start.
(5) FIGURE OUT NEW BEHAVIOURS THAT WILL HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL.
There are certain behaviours that you know will be more likely to help you achieve your goals. List out the behaviours that you need to engage in from now on and begin to implement them in your life.
(6) KEEP AN EYE ON YOURSELF AND BE DISCIPLINED.
Now that you are doing things differently, it is useful for you to ensure that you are continuously practising being disciplined in whatever new behaviours you are engaging in.
