Define Devine by Anna Aparicio PDF Print E-mail

When she was born her mother called her Devine because "she had the face of an angel and the attitude of a goddess". Devine grew up to be a fine young lady. With time and bad habits her face had changed and her body
too. To her mum, she was still her beautiful baby girl even though by the time she was 18 she weighed 13 stone and was not the happy go lucky girl she once was.

The Secret PDF Print E-mail
The Secret is one of the latest crazes in the self improvement world. The Secret to Life is something which is described as being held through centuries. There is 'the Secret', the book by Rhonda Byrne and 'the Secret' the movie.  On the movie, there are plenty of well known figures in the self improvement business and philosophers sharing their perspectives on the secret and what it truely means. Figures like John Demartini, John Gray, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Denis Waitley and Neale Donald Walsch What I want to talk about this month is the brilliance of this latest craze and how, in fact, what we know as 'this Secret' is actually more like 'the Obvious'.

Loneliness PDF Print E-mail
Loneliness is the topic of this months article.

Loneliness is one of the worst experiences a person can possibly have. We grow up on this earth and make connections with people and therefore we become attached to others. This causes us to develop a need for others company and when we do not it can become debilitating. Now many monks spend many years in retreat away from people and isolation is seen as one effective way of accessing a divine state but to most people in the world being alone is their worst fear. Indeed it is often used as a form of torture. Let's explore what all this means and what we can do about it.

Getting Closure PDF Print E-mail
This month I want to talk about the notion of getting closure. In many areas of life, we have relationships that come to an end for a variety of reasons. Sometimes two people grow apart, sometimes one dies, sometimes they have a big fight and sometimes they simply make the decision to end it. I'm not just talking about romantic relationships. The same can be true of family relationships and friendships and even business relationships. When this happens, for one or both people involved in can be challenging to get closure on this. That's why this month I want to examine the notion of getting closure and how it might be possible for you to do it on YOUR terms.

This is What Love is all About PDF Print E-mail
This story comes in from Elham. Prepare to have wet eyes. Fantastic example of true love.

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am, when an elderly gentleman in
his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he
was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an
hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his
watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient that I would
evaluate his wound.

Dealing with Bullies PDF Print E-mail

This month, I want to talk about dealing with bullies. By bullies I am referring to both work and school bullies and i am referring to the different types of social, psychical and emotional bullying.

By Social bullying, I am referring to the kind of bullying that happens when someone is excluded from a group. They are left out of everything, picked last and treated differently to everyone else. By physical bullying, I am referring to when someone is physically harmed or threatened. By emotional bullying, I am referring to when someone is subjected to verbal abuse both direct and indirect and is intimidated and made look or feel bad in front of others.

THE QUALITY OF HEROISM PDF Print E-mail
This month I want to talk about a different way of looking at heroism. Heroism is usually associated with courageous individuals who sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Often they give up their own lives so that other people can live. In this definition I wanna look at the very same commitment with one crucial difference. This is not about saving others. It's is about saving yourself.  This is also about doing so for the greater good.

Away with the Fearies by Anna Aparicio PDF Print E-mail
Throughout my life I have met quite a few people who seem to regard fear as this living entity, which can somehow take complete control of their lives. I call it "being away with the fearies".
I have heard shocking statements such as " I am just a fearful person" and "I am afraid because of the way my parents brought me up" and the even more astonishing "fear just takes over me".

NLP and Self Defence by David Main PDF Print E-mail
When I first moved to Dublin, I felt that there was an edge to the inner city which I hadn't felt before in a European city.  As I had never learnt any martial arts or done any self defence or even been in a fight, I started to look for a course to teach me how to defend myself.  Fortunately, I stumbled across the Krav Maga Ireland "Learn to Defend Yourself in 24 Hours" website.  I took the course and then carried on with the classes which I still go to today.

One day in the pub after a class the instructor started telling me about NLP and said that it was "self defence for the mind".  This intrigued me and I signed up for various NLP courses with Owen and Brian at the Irish Institute of NLP.  I never really understood the instructor's comment until reading Owen's book, Conversations, recently.  Sure, the instructor uses a lot of NLP to teach self defence, but that didn't really help me understand what his comment meant.

Getting Out Of A Rut PDF Print E-mail
This month, I wanted to talk about something which most people can relate to in one form or another… getting out of a rut. In life, we have our ups and downs and we have the times where everything is going well and when we have things together. We also have the times when we struggle, when we seem unable to get past certain obstacles or problems and get things back on track.

The End is the Beginning PDF Print E-mail
We live in a world which changes so dramatically, so quickly that we barely have time to take stock of things. In our own life, one minute everything can be going so well and then within a flash, things can fall apart... and then again they can turn around just as fast.

Conversations. A Review of how to improve our social communication. PDF Print E-mail

Conversations are ways that we review the world. This month, I want to talk about how to improve your Conversations. Conversations are the particular events that we engage in when we are with other people. We have conversations with other people in work, at home, with our friends and with new people. Conversations are how we learn more about other people. If I, as Owen Fitzpatrick, have a Conversation with another person, they will learn about me and I will learn about them. Often, however, through our conversations we do not create the best possible impression on another persons mind. I want to talk about how we can review our own conversations and thus improve how we communicate with others.

The Road to Personal Change PDF Print E-mail
In the field of personal development, there are many different approaches out there to personal change. The idea of helping people to alter the course of their lives is something which appeals to more and more people who enter the profession in the guise of coaching or therapy.
