The Skill of Thinking PDF Print E-mail
A few months ago, I had the opportunity to attend a workshop given by the well known expert of creativity and creator of 'parallel thinking', Edward DeBono. In it, DeBono highlighted a number of points which I wanted to expand this month in a way which helps us improve our thinking.

DeBono explained the difference between 'Intelligence' which is potential and 'Thinking' which is a skill. He quite powerfully refutes the idea that those with the best potential as measured by our tests reveals the best thinkers of our time. Instead, he reveals that it is those who learn to think who thrive far more successfully than those who have been classified as intelligent.

Making Life Decisions and Choices PDF Print E-mail
This month I want to talk about making Life Decisions and Choices. We live in a world which is radically different to how things were 50-100 years ago. We have so much more than we could have ever imagined even back then... but fundamentally our vastly improved lives have made us more miserable than ever. This paradox comes down to the greatest strength and weakness of human kind... the dignity of choice.

Finding your Hearts Desire PDF Print E-mail
This month I want to talk about a concept we all know as your 'Hearts Desire'. Very often, we hear of this as expressing the most important thing to us that we want in life. I want to examine how we can find our hearts desire and reach that wonderful place where we feel fulfilled.

Most of life, we spend chasing after what we want and running away from what we don't. We struggle through our existence to try and get the best of life we can. meanwhile there are many people throughout the world less off than us and better off than us. Somehow we trap ourselves in comparing ourselves with others instead of truely setting our focus on manifesting our hearts desire.

Living a Life you were supposed to Live PDF Print E-mail
Every day we wake up with one fundamental choice. We can either be the best we can be or not. Being the best we can be involves doing the best we can, speaking the best we can, learning the best we can, taking care of ourselves the best we can and getting on with others the best we can.

This month I wanna talk about this choice. You see, most people I get to work with and, in fact, most people I know don't live the best that they can. I didn't either and still sometimes I don't. The difference is that I do much more than I ever did and I continue to do better each day. I made a choice a while back to live out more of my potential because I wasn't satisfied with the way things were going in my life before.

Believing in Good Things PDF Print E-mail
Probably one of the things that gets in peoples way the most is the beliefs they have about themselves, their capabilities and the world they live in. Your beliefs determine how you interact with the world. Your beliefs are usually formed as generalisations which limit us or liberate us in some way.

Seasons of Life Change PDF Print E-mail
One of the most important lessons I learned from Jim Rohn was about the seasons of life. In what is, for many, described as the most important season of the year: Winter… I decided to examine the seasons of life from my own NLP perspective.

Basically the theory goes that just like the seasons of our world change, so too does the seasons of our life. We all have summers, where everything seems to go well.. we do what we want to do and despite the odd threat and challenge, we enjoy things as we are being successful. Next comes autumn when the hard times begin to appear. We can see the threat occurring and sometimes we don’t choose to think about it. What we’ve harvested in good times now begins to be threatened and challenge comes our way.

New Years Resolution Ideas PDF Print E-mail
Have you made any resolutions for this year? Have they still been kept or have you let things slip? If you let anything slip, just start up again and use the slip to remind you how bad you’d feel if you slipped again. Regardless, I wanna talk to you about some resolutions worth having this year. Now, I come from my own experience and what I conceive as being worthy or having might not resonate with you but I believe that I have some idea of what helps people become happier and successful.

Resolving to be Brilliant PDF Print E-mail
We will soon be in a brand new 2005 and, of course, many of us will make resolutions. The resolutions will be called new year resolutions and they will vary between things like ‘smoking’ to ‘getting fit’ to ‘being more disciplined’. Many will try and do them for a couple of days until they end them, joke about it and promise the following year that they’ll give it a better go. As humans, we get the idea that it is best to make a resolution at the end of our calendar year and that it offers a new beginning.

The problem is, however, that making a new resolution doesn’t work for many because the resolution doesn’t require you to maintain it. There is a difference between making a resolution and resolving. In order to resolve something as anyone who has ever done so will tell you, you need to get into the habit of doing it or not doing it as the case may be. Resolving to be a non smoker. Resolving to be a fit, healthy person. Resolving to be disciplined. These actions make things easier to grasp.

When you are resolving, you are still actively working to make things happen. It means that you resolve… not because it’s January the first but rather because it will improve your life. It is also different to resolve to do a different behaviour than to be a different kind of person. If you truly want the new behaviour to stick, resolve to be a different t kind of person. With a new identity of the new behaviour, it will be far easier to continue resolving to become better.

Resolve to improve every area of your life. Go through your PHYSICAL HEALTH, LOOK AND FITNESS. Go through your EMOTIONAL/MENTAL HEALTH. Go through your FINANCIAL HEALTH. Go through your CAREER HEALTH. Go through your RELATIONSHIP HEALTH. Go through your CREATIVITY HEALTH. Go through your FUN HEALTH.

How are each of these areas of your life? Are you doing what you’d like? Are you being who you want to be? What will you do in the new year to make your life what you want it to be? How will you juggle things and how will you organise things so that you can resolve to be brilliant in every area?

When you resolve to do things and resolve to be someone, you make a decision that you commit to. Think out these decisions carefully and commit to them when you are truly confident that they are within your best interests. Make a powerful image of when you have achieved these changes of what life will be like and make the image really strong, vivid and vibrant.

You will need to RESOLVE to stay healthy and fit. You will do this by eating, drinking, sleeping and exercising well. Very simply. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to look good. You will do this by paying attention to your style, dressing well and looking after your body. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to be emotionally happy and healthy. You will do this by practising NLP and using it to run your brain effectively. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to learn lots more and become smarter. You will do this by reading lots of books, listening to tapes and cds, going to seminars and listening to people. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to be financially secure. You will do this by being more aware of your financial situation and working to improve your income. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to be happy in your career. You will do this by checking to see if the career is for you and if yes then find ways to do it in the most enjoyable ways. If not you will start looking for a better job that would suit you more. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to be better in your relationships. You will do this by taking the advice below of improving your relationships. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to be more creative. You will do this by giving yourself time apart from everything else to dream wonderfully and express yourself through using art, music or body movements. You will keep track of all your wonderful ideas. Build these things into your life.

You will need to RESOLVE to be having more fun. You will do this by setting time for yourself to have a great time in the world and have lots of fun doing those things that you enjoy the most. Build these things into your life.

By building these things into your life, I simply mean schedule it in any way that works for you. Remember every action you take consistently changes who you are. The more successful actions you take the more successful you are. The more happy the actions you take, the happier you are. The more brilliant the actions you take the more brilliant you are. AS YOU ENTER 2005, MAKE THIS THE YEAR WHERE YOUR LIFE TURNED AROUND. RESOLVE TO BE BRILLIANT!!
