Tips on Email Management PDF Print E-mail
Email is a natural part of our lives. Here are some tips on making email a lot more enjoyable.

1)    Organise your email effectively. Have set up all your contacts alphabetically so whenever you need to contact them you can. Have set all your sent and inbox messages into different folders depending on what kind of email it is and what it is to do with.


 

2)    Check your email at a set time each day. It can be distracting to keep checking it regularly so instead pick one or a couple of times each day where you will check your email.

3)    Keep disciplined so that each time you check your email you respond to it or you place it somewhere for when you will need to respond to it and any emails you no longer need immediately put them straightaway in the necessary folder.

4)    When you go through your emails deal with the most urgent ones first and at the same time always try and deal with the tough ones first leaving yourself with any nice, personal emails at the end. Make it so that you have something to look forward to.

5)    Once a month check that your emails are organized properly and easily and scan through your contacts to see if there is anyone you should contact.

6)    When replying to an email it’s often good practice to copy bits of their message in the email and respond to each bit to ensure you give them a full answer. Be careful though as not everyone likes this. (it’s probably best not to do it with close friends)

7)    Whenever you promise to do something in an email immediately add it to your to-do list.
