This month, we present some tips on simplifying things. Far too many people we have found complicate NLP and since we have been complemented often on how simple we seem to make everything, we decided that we would share some ideas on how you can accomplish this too.

1) TAKE AN IDEA THAT SOUNDS COMPLICATED. Read about it, ask questions about it, and learn all you can about it. Get to understand it and demonstrate you understand it. Make sure you have gotten it.

2) ASK YOURSELF 'HOW COULD I EXPLAIN THIS TO SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS LITTLE ENGLISH? (Or your native tongue)'

3) ASK YOURSELF 'HOW COULD I EXPLAIN THIS TO A SIX YEAR OLD?'

4) PRACTISE DOING IT BOTH WAYS IN THE WRITTEN FORM AND THEN GO OVER IT UNTIL YOU CAN REDUCE IT DOWN TO A COUPLE OF PARAGRAPHS. This will require you going through it in depth asking yourself: 'Is this necessary?' and 'What's a quicker way of saying that?'

5) GO OVER THE NEW EXPLANATION AND MAKE SURE THAT IT LOSES NONE OF THE IMPORTANCE THROUGH YOUR SIMPLIFICATION. If it does find out what is missing and add it in simply.

6) WRITE OUT A FEW PARAGRAPHS OF SOME STORY IN YOUR LIFE. Write it out normally. Then make it really easy for a child to understand everything as well as possible. Then use a thesauras and make it sound so complicated and as hard to understand as you possibly can.

7) PRACTISE LISTENING TO POLITICIANS, PSYCHOLOGISTS, NLP TRAINERS WHO TALK IN BIG WORDS. Ask yourself as they speak 'How could they have described that really simply so a child could understand it?'

8) READ PLENTY OF CHILDRENS BOOKS AND PRACTISE TAKING IN THINGS PRESENTED SIMPLY. READ PLENTY OF COMPLICATED BOOKS AND PRACTISE TAKING IN THINGS PRESENTED IN A COMPLICATED WAY. That way you build flexibility which will allow you to understand and describe things in simple and complicated ways.
