Relaxing (Dealing with stress) PDF Print E-mail
This month lets look at some top advice on how to relax and deal with stress. In this highly active world, we are bombarded with many things every day. So, here’s some advice to help you relax and deal with everything easily, effortlessly and more relaxed..

1) Take the advice from last months newsletter about getting organised.

2) Set yourself 5 to 15 minutes every day to find a quiet place to relax. Take this time to close your eyes, day dream your favourite fantasies, imagine your body completely relaxing and imagine how you would feel if you knew you couldn't fail. Make the images as vivid as possible and enjoy the relaxation with complete abandonment for a few minutes. You can also offer yourself some positive suggestions or affirmations while you are relaxing. The secret is not to try too hard to get it right. Focus only on HOW MUCH you are relaxing not whether you are or not.

3) At the end of the day, finish your time in work by turning on and off the computer, opening and closing every door and drawer and cabinet. Write a list of what you are to do the following day in what order and note anything you have to finish the next day. I learned this from Richard Bandler himself and I've found it a brilliant way of switching off from work. It has a function in the brain of closing off all activities.

4) Also at the end of the day, create some ritual that you can go through to represent you finishing with work and going into your own time. For example, I know someone once who used to tap a branch on his way home from work before he entered his house. On the way back out for work the next morning he would tap the same branch again. This symbolised to him the act of leaving his work worries and thoughts outside of the home and collecting them each morning before work. It's an excellent trick to use.

5) Begin to run your brain better. You can do this by changing the way you think about things. When you find yourself giving out to yourself, change the tone of your voice. Say the same harsh things in a sexy voice. As you do, you'll find yourself feeling a lot better and it'll be hard to feel bad.

6) Whenever you catch yourself starting to worry, ask yourself what can you do now about the situation. Whatever it is do it. If the answer is no then decide to put it in worry time later on. Set up a 10 minutes spell at the end of the day when you can spend time just worrying about things.

7) Give yourself some time off now and then to do things you really enjoy. EXERCISE is a must. Taking up a sport as a hobby would be a useful thing to do.

8) Eat healthily, Sleep well, Drink plenty of water. Avoid things that are bad for you. Remember your body and mind are interconnected. Treat both of them well and they'll treat you well. If not...

9) Spend more time LAUGHING. Use the Laughter Filter from Last Months Newsletter to get yourself smiling more at life.
