The Secret is one of the latest crazes in the self improvement world. The Secret to Life is something which is described as being held through centuries. There is 'the Secret', the book by Rhonda Byrne and 'the Secret' the movie. On the movie, there are plenty of well known figures in the self improvement business and philosophers sharing their perspectives on the secret and what it truely means. Figures like John Demartini, John Gray, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Denis Waitley and Neale Donald Walsch What I want to talk about this month is the brilliance of this latest craze and how, in fact, what we know as 'this Secret' is actually more like 'the Obvious'. .
'The Secret' simply states the following. There is such thing as the 'Law of Attraction'. The Law of Attraction simply means that whatever you place your focus on you tend to attract. So if you think about what you want then you are more likely to attract it. What makes this such an extraordinary secret is because although it makes absolute sense and seems to be something that anyone should know, most people don't practice it. Instead, we sabotage ourselves even though we know we shouldn't by focusing on failing or on what we don't want.
Indeed it seems that only the most successful people over the years have actually applied the law of attraction and that is one of the fundamental reasons why they succeed. The one caveat to be aware of here is that simply thinking about something doesn't draw it to us. It is the process of actively thinking about it and actively doing something about it that makes the difference. We all think about what we want, but since we can ever remember in human history there has been a tradition of people doing rituals while thinking about what they wanted. By taking action and thinking about your goal you are setting into motion a chain of events that starts with your energy being channelled in one direction.
Also it is essential to start taking action to actually make happen what you want to happen. there's the famous story of the guy who was caught in a storm in the sea and believed that God would save him. A boat comes along and he says... No go back, God will save me. A second boat comes by and he turns them away with the same reason. A third boat comes back and yet again he turns it back claiming God will help him survive. Next thing you know he gets washed under the current and dies. He gets to heaven and goes to God and asks God, 'Why didn't you save me?' and God replies 'Why didn't you get on one of the three boats I sent to save ya?' It's important to have faith and belief in what you want but it's also crucial that you take your opportunities and aim your life towards achieving what you want.
The Secret is really the Obvious because it is something that we are all aware of and it is not some life shattering truth that we never knew. Instead, it is something that we need to be reminded of... possibly every day until we get to the point where we are actively focusing on what we want with our all minds and hearts and taking action towards achieving it every single day. Then we will learn another obvious secret, we are capable of so much more when we use our minds so much more! |
