True Love is the topic of this month and pretty adept too, given valentines day. However, when I mention true love I am not purely talking about the love we feel for our partners or spouses. I am talking about something far greater than that. You see, recently, I got a perspective on true love and what it really means and I want to share it with you because I think it can help you make sense of life more.
You know when you are sleeping very deeply and you awaken, only you are half awake and half asleep, and the feeling that you have from the dream is a really gorgeous sense of warmth, happiness, bliss, love? Well most people Ive spoken to have recollected times like this. You know that feeling you get when you fall in love and you spend time simply being with the other person, your bodies touching? You know the feeling you had long, long ago as a young child when your mother southed you to sleep? Even if you can remember it you can sense what Im talking about.
Ive spent the last few years with Brian teaching people how to become happier and more effective in their life. We teach people how to recreate states inside of them so they can feel joy, happiness, confidence when they need to. There is a state however that isnt focused enough upon. This is the state of True Love. When you feel this state you feel like laughing at problems. You remember your past and you feel the hurt and pain healed. Pure simply, you fall in love with life.
The Story of true love is that once upon a time you were born and love was born inside of you towards those wonderful creatures that tended to your every need. Soon this love grew into a feeling of the safety of being held in your mothers or fathers arms... this feeling of being home was something which felt so free and so warm and so content. This love expanded to the other people you met who were nice to you. You learned they had to go and they came back. You learned you would be seperate from them some time and you learned to miss them and think of them. Then love began to expand and you met more and more people as you grew up and you shared that love with them and the more you shared the more you felt it.
True Love is a feeling which we all have inside of us. We get a taste of it when we fall in love or when we get a moment of realisation of how important our family or friends are to us. What is important to remember is that it is a part of us and who we are. No matter who you love or connect with, you have this feeling inside of you and it is you who shares it with them. It is a feeling of absolute bliss which can help you overcome any challenges you may face and break down any problems which challenged you.
When you look at the world, you can see many things which are appaling and horrible however you can also see the most amazing and wonderful miracles.. you can also meet the most fantastic people. There is so much delight and love in the world. This feeling of "coming home?" is a feeling of where we are safe and secure and so, so happy. It is true love because it is a feeling we feel deep inside us for what is both in and out of ourselves.
Our lives are like the seasons... we have summers and winters. What is important is to have this feeling inside of us and to appreciate its existence. To remember the times you felt most love for your loved ones. We are put on this earth we other people not to compete or compare but to connect. We connect by appreciating the common factors with us all... our capacity to feel love and to share love.
This month, as you continue your 2006, consider what future lies in store. How will you deal with the good times and the bad? If you could only choose to recreate this feeling of love inside of you you would realise that there is no need for anything else. Instead you would discover the freedom and love that comes with this feeling. It is the safety of knowing that deep down when you feel this, no external outside event can make you feel down.
Life brings its changes and all things come to an end but the one constant in this world is the presence of this feeling. With it, there is no fear or suffering or pain or sadness. There is only a dream of happiness, a feeling of bliss which feels like home.
The story of true love goes that once upon a time love was born and it grew and it became stronger and soon it began to roam free to affect so many more people. Soon this feeling became so strong that if felt hard to contain in each person. Sometimes it feels hard to have so much love to give and to be unable to express it all. Sometimes when we try we sound weird or strange or needy.
The truth is that we are needy... not for other people. We crave this feeling of love more than food, water, sex. It is a feeling which gets us getting up in the monring. We dont call it that, but we are forever searching for the answer to life and yet it has been given to us many times before by many wige sages and geniuses. The answer to life is love. You live, you love, you die. Your love will stay with you even after you die. Thats why we can still feel the love from our deceased relatives are friends. They may be gone in body but we can still feel their love for us from their spirits. It is neverending, unyielding, unwavering.
It might be time for you to recall this feeling of love and complete contentment for you. It exists seperate from pleasure or gratification. It is the feeling of bliss that comes with appreciating the people in your life that youve connected with and, most importantly, the ability that you have to feel an intense feeling for them.
