This month I want to talk about the importance of perseverance.
Life is full of challenges and opportunities. Just when you think you have everything sorted, often you'll find yourself facing the most challenging of difficulties. Just when you think everything has gone wrong and all hope is lost, along comes an opportunity out of the blue.
That's the way life is, no matter how we look at it. Probably the most important trait we need to have in our way of thinking is our ability to persevere, no matter what.
Over the last few years, I've taken quite a few knocks in life for various reasons. Despite the fact that I was a lot happier than I used to be, I still found myself dealing with the toughest personal and business based problems and experiences I had ever had. There were sometimes when I felt like I was too tired and couldn't take it all on again, I felt I had had enough.
But deep down, that's where all our strength lies. It lies in our own ability to know that deep within we have the inner power to be able to handle anything life throws at us. With every heart break, there is always the choice to vow never to let yourself fall in love again. With every time someone betrays us or cheats us, there is always the choice to vow never to trust anyone again. With every time we fail at something, there is always the choice to vow never to try to succeed again.
This is where we can make a difference. This difference comes within the choice of choosing Perseverance. Perseverance means never giving up, not understanding failure, never letting yourself down in any way. It means resolving with every fibre of your soul to overcome any and all challenges in your way to succeed in whatever you set you mind to.
It is about understanding that after heartbreak we can let our hearts open to fall in love again, after betrayal we can trust again and after failure we can succeed again. With Perseverance, we are never afraid of things not working out, we are just focused on making them work out.
When you persevere, you don't stop until you achieve what you want... so you will always succeed. Life does not always go the way we want it to, but this quality makes us ensure that we get almost everything we want out of life.
So, no matter how much you have been through or how difficult life has been or how many times you've tried and failed, remember the famous Japanese Proverb 'Fall down seven times, stand up eight.' When you Persevere, the universe will lay down for you and allow you to claim your destiny. |
