WHO INVENTED IT AND HOW? HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT KIND OF PERSON LEARNS NLP? IS IT DANGEROUS OR MANIPULATIVE?
IS IT A TYPE OF PSYCHOLOGY? HOW DOES IT WORK?
WHAT IS IT? NLP is a philosophy and educational tool, which is designed to teach people how to become happier and more effective. It teaches people how to think and communicate in more useful ways. It explores HOW we think and HOW we behave. It allows you to discover what's going on when you are doing something well and not doing something well. It allows you to find out how other people do things effectively. It shows you the difference that makes a difference. NLP is fast becoming one of the most sought tools of human enhancement and performance improvement that has ever been known. Science Digest describes it as 'the most important synthesis of information available today about human communication'. People have used NLP to improve their lives in many different ways.
WHO INVENTED IT AND HOW?
In the 1970's, two researchers from California, Richard Bandler and John Grinder studied the most effective communicators around and found that these people used particular patterns, which revealed how they were so successful. These patterns became known as NLP. HOW DOES IT WORK? NLP works through understanding how the brain works, how language affects the brain in specific ways and how to structure your communication and thinking to get the results that you want. Through understanding the ways in which people think and how to alter this through using language, NLP practitioners can assist people to control their emotional state, change any unwanted habit or behavior and communicate more effectively with anyone. WHAT KIND OF PERSON LEARNS NLP? Doctors, Students, Parents, Life and Business Coaches, Counsellors, Therapists, Teachers, Managers, Psychologists, Salespeople, Trainers, Business Consultants, IT Professionals, Marketing Executives, Actors, Musicians, Writers, TV and Radio Broadcasters, Journalists, Performers, Models, Hotel Managers, Complementary Practitioners, Nurses, Lawyers, Retailers, Health Professionals, Accountants and Politicians to name but a few. People from all areas of marketing, advertising, finance, web design, engineering, retail, insurance, tourism and the airline industry have also found NLP immensely useful in training with us. We have trained as many people from the private and public sector. Some of the Blue Chip companies on our books include: Dell, AOL, Bord Gais, Dublin City Council, VHI, Tesco, Bausch & Lomb, Aer Lingus, Microsoft, Go America, ESB, IMI, Tesco, Gateway, AIB, Irish Nationwide and Bank of Ireland. Those interested in personal development and self-improvement are frequent participants on our courses. We teach all kinds of people how to add value to their lives and by learning NLP they discover how to run their own brains for a change. IS IT DANGEROUS OR MANIPULATIVE? NLP is not dangerous and it is manipulative. You can use NLP to improve your life and of course, just like communication skills or psychology you can use it in negative ways also. NLP is manipulative as it allows you to change the way you are thinking, communicating and behaving. It also helps you influence other people but you cannot force them to do something they don’t want to. IS IT A TYPE OF PSYCHOLOGY? Not exactly. It’s more like an alternative to Psychology. NLP came about because Richard Bandler and John Grinder couldn’t find anything in Traditional Psychology that was useful… just lots of theories about why someone had a problem. NLP explores how we think and behave and NOT on why we have problems. HOW DOES IT WORK? We learn to automatically and naturally think, communicate and behave in certain ways. Some of these ways are useful and some are not. Through understanding how we learn, change and improve, it is possible to develop new habits of thinking, acting and communicating that make us happier and more successful. |
